What's Your story on Buying Your First Home?
Friday, August 13th, 2010
My first home was in a small village called Barford, outside Leamington Spa close to ‘Shakespeare’s’ Stratford in the UK. It was an adorable cottage that dated back over 100 years. It used to be the Jail house, and the basement was where the local policeman – who lived upstairs – kept the ‘inmates’! It was right opposite the most wonderful country hotel, where we would go across on a – too regular basis – to eat their fine food! I was so happy in that home, with its enormous character and gorgeous English country garden. The previous owner’s son had renovated the hotel, and they had taken an extra order for home of the fine wool carpets and velvet curtains throughout the home – in a deep burnt orange – fashionable at the time!
